Französischer Whisky? Aikan war auch für uns noch neu und wohl den wenigsten hier bekannt - zu unrecht! Ein faszinierender französischer Single Malt, der durch seine tropische Reifung auf Martinique eine Tiefe und Reife erreicht, die weit über sein Alter hinausgeht. Ein Kraftpaket, fruchtbetont, unverkennbar exotisch.
Nase:
Vielschichtig und verführerisch exotisch. Reife Mango und Ananas verbinden sich mit Noten von Vanille, Honig und einem Hauch Kokosnuss. Dahinter feine Holzgewürze, etwas Sandelholz und ein zarter Anflug von Rohrzucker
Gaumen:
Ein echtes Kraftpaket – vollmundig, cremig und gleichzeitig vibrierend lebendig. Die Textur ist fast ölig, mit intensiver Frucht und tiefem Eichencharakter. Mango, Bananenbrot, brauner Zucker und kandierte Zitrusfrüchte treffen auf würzige Vanille, Pfeffer, etwas Ingwer und eine Spur Zimt. Der Einfluss des karibischen Klimas zeigt sich in der Reife und Rundheit: der Whisky wirkt älter, komplexer und „reifer“, als es das Alter vermuten lässt.
Abgang:
Lang, wärmend und exotisch-würzig. Holzpolitur, Vanille, süße Melasse und getrocknete Früchte klingen nach – begleitet von einer angenehmen, fast rumsüßen Wärme.
Fazit:
Ein Whisky, der die Grenze zwischen klassischem Single Malt und karibischem Rum mit Eleganz verwischt – exotisch, kraftvoll, einzigartig!

French whisky? Aikan was new to us as well, and probably unknown to most people here – unjustly so! A fascinating French single malt that, thanks to its tropical maturation in Martinique, achieves a depth and maturity that far exceeds its age. A powerhouse, fruity and unmistakably exotic.
Nose:
Complex and seductively exotic. Ripe mango and pineapple combine with notes of vanilla, honey and a hint of coconut. Behind this are fine wood spices, a touch of sandalwood and a delicate hint of cane sugar.
Palate:
A real powerhouse – full-bodied, creamy and at the same time vibrantly lively. The texture is almost oily, with intense fruit and deep oak character. Mango, banana bread, brown sugar and candied citrus fruits meet spicy vanilla, pepper, a hint of ginger and a trace of cinnamon. The influence of the Caribbean climate is evident in the maturity and roundness: the whisky appears older, more complex and 'riper' than its age would suggest.
Finish:
Long, warming and exotically spicy. Wood polish, vanilla, sweet molasses and dried fruit linger – accompanied by a pleasant, almost rum-like sweet warmth.
Conclusion:
A whisky that elegantly blurs the line between classic single malt and Caribbean rum – exotic, powerful, unique!
