Es ist besonders befriedigend, ein Fass auf den Markt zu bringen, das wir über die Jahre hinweg begleiten konnten, und zu sehen, wie das Potenzial, das wir bereits in seiner Jugend entdeckt hatten, nun endlich seine volle Reife erreicht hat.
Es bedarf keiner starken Holznote oder aufwendigen Nachbehandlung, wenn das Destillat von sich aus bereits so viel Charakter entwickelt. Das ist genau der Stil, den wir bei C. Sofort frisch, lebhaft und wunderbar fruchtig. Eine Fülle von Obstgartenfrüchten – reife Birne, knackiger gelber Apfel, Mirabelle und weißer Pfirsich – entwickelt sich schnell zu etwas Exotischerem. Mit der Zeit kommen Ananas, Mango und ein Hauch von Passionsfrucht zum Vorschein, begleitet von Zitronenschale, Vanille, Blütenhonig und einer zarten Wachsnote. Das Bourbonfass bleibt wunderbar zurückhaltend und verleiht Vanille und sanfte Eiche, ohne die Frucht zu überlagern. Mit etwas Wasser kommen noch mehr tropische Noten zum Vorschein.
Gaumen:
Vollmundig und bei Fassstärke bemerkenswert saftig. Birne, Apfel und reifer Pfirsich geben den Auftakt, bevor sich Ananas, Banane, Melone und ein Hauch von Passionsfrucht entfalten. Hier herrscht eine fast fruchtsalatartige Fülle, die durch Vanillecreme, Honig, Zitronenöl und sanfte Malzsüsse ausgeglichen wird. Die Eiche sorgt eher für Struktur als für eine geschmackliche Dominanz, mit einem Hauch von weißem Pfeffer, Ingwer und sanften Gewürzen. Ausgereift, energiegeladen und beeindruckend fruchtbetont.

A real fruit explosion! An abundance of orchard fruits, complemented by a wonderful wave of tropical fruits. Ripe, natural and unmistakably shaped by the distillate, with the bourbon cask quietly providing the backdrop against which this Glen Moray’s almost Haribo-like fruitiness can shine.
This bottling is also something of a milestone for us. It is our first bottling of a matured single malt that we originally purchased when it was still considerably younger. Even back then, we saw great potential in this whisky, particularly in its wonderful fruity character, but felt that it wasn’t quite ready yet. So, rather than bottling it straight away, we decided to be patient and allow the cask the extra years it needed.
That patience has paid off. The abundance of orchard fruits, now joined by a wonderful wave of tropical fruits, has become the defining character of this whisky. It is particularly satisfying to bring a cask to market that we have been able to follow over the years, and to see how the potential we had already spotted in its youth has now finally reached its full maturity.
There is no need for heavy wood or elaborate finishing when the distillate develops this much character on its own. This is very much the style we love at C. Dully Selection: mature, natural and unmistakably spirit-driven, with the bourbon barrel quietly providing the stage on which the Glen Moray fruit can shine.
Nose:
Immediately fresh, vibrant and wonderfully fruity. An abundance of orchard fruits—ripe pear, crisp yellow apple, mirabelle and white peach—quickly develops into something more exotic. Pineapple, mango and hints of passion fruit emerge with time, accompanied by lemon zest, vanilla, blossom honey and a delicate waxiness. The bourbon barrel remains beautifully restrained, adding vanilla and gentle oak without getting in the way of the fruit. With a little water, even more tropical notes appear.
Palate:
Full-bodied and remarkably juicy at cask strength. Pear, apple and ripe peach lead the way before opening into pineapple, banana, melon and a touch of passion fruit. There is an almost fruit-salad-like abundance here, balanced by vanilla cream, honey, lemon oil and gentle malt sweetness. The oak provides structure rather than flavour dominance, with touches of white pepper, ginger and soft spice. Mature, energetic and impressively fruit-driven.
Finish:
Long, clean and beautifully fruity. Ripe orchard fruits gradually give way to tropical fruit, citrus oils, vanilla and a gentle drying oakiness. A lingering impression of pineapple, pear and honey keeps drawing you back to the glass.
