Old Rhosdhu ist ein ungetorfter Single Malt, den die Loch Lomond Destillerie zwischen 1966 und 2000 gelegentlich produzierte und der in dieser Form seither nicht mehr hergestellt wird.
Obwohl die Destillerie knapp schon in den Highlands liegt, weist der dort produzierte Old Rhosdhu Single Malt eher typische Merkmale von älteren Abfüllungen aus den Lowlands auf: Eine interessante Kombination aus grasigen und fruchtigen Noten, leicht ölig, wachsartig und elegant. Ein selten gewordener Stil, den wir mögen!
Nase:
Vielschichtiges Bouquet - Kokosnusswasser, flambierte Banane, Vanille, getrocknete Aprikosen, Ananaskonserven, Schokoladenmarzipan, cremiger Honig und eine leicht grasig, metallische Note, wie wir sie von älteren Blended Scotch Whiskies kennen - charmant nostalgisch!
Gaumen:
Rund, malzig mit weisser Schokolade und Mandelpaste, Banane, Ananas aus der Dose, Orangenschale, honigartige Wachsnoten.
Abgang:
Langanhaltend, fruchtig und komplex. Wachs, getrocknete Früchte und ein Hauch Zitruszeste klingen elegant aus. Eine feine Öligkeit bleibt am Gaumen zurück – samtig und anhaltend.
Fazit:
Ein zeitloser, alter Stil – fruchtig, wachsartig und fein strukturiert. Ein echtes Stück Whiskygeschichte – nostalgisch und wunderbar eigenständig.

Although the distillery is geographically located in the Southern Highlands, the Old Rhosdhu single malt produced there has the typical characteristics of older bottlings from the Lowlands: an interesting combination of grassy and fruity notes, slightly oily, waxy and elegant. A style that has become rare, and one that we like!
Nose:
Complex bouquet – coconut water, flambéed banana, vanilla, dried apricots, tinned pineapple, chocolate marzipan, creamy honey and a slightly metallic note, as we know it from older blended Scotch whiskies – charmingly nostalgic!
Palate:
Round, malty with white chocolate and almond paste, banana, tinned pineapple, orange peel, honey-like wax notes.
Finish:
Long-lasting, fruity and complex. Wax, dried fruit and a hint of citrus zest linger elegantly. A fine oiliness remains on the palate – velvety and persistent.
Conclusion:
A timeless, old-fashioned style – fruity, waxy and finely structured. A real piece of whisky history – nostalgic and wonderfully unique.
